Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 2 August 2026
Version: 1.0
This Privacy Policy explains how the Onuri application (“App”) handles your information. Onuri is provided by:

The design of Onuri is to keep your journal entries on your device and in your personal iCloud only. The App does not send your entries to us, and we do not store, view, or process them on any server we operate.
- Journal entries you write. These are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your personal iCloud account under Apple’s private CloudKit database. They are not transmitted to us.
- Sign in with Apple identifier and display name. When you sign in, Apple returns a user identifier and, on first sign-in, an optional display name. These are stored on your device (in the App’s local settings) so we can identify your account across launches. They are not transmitted to us.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe to Onuri Premium, Apple relays your subscription entitlement status to the App via StoreKit. Apple handles payment; we never receive your payment details.
- Language and device settings. The App reads standard system settings (language, locale, accessibility preferences) to render the interface appropriately. This information stays on your device.
2. What we do not do
- We do not operate servers that receive or store your journal entries.
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs (no Firebase, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel, no similar).
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for advertising.
- We do not read the content of your entries.
3. Third-party services used by the App
- Apple Sign in with Apple — for authentication. Governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit private database) — optional; used only to sync your entries between your own devices via your Apple ID. Governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Apple StoreKit — for subscriptions and receipts. Governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Apple Natural Language framework — runs entirely on your device to identify pill entities (people, places, dates, topics) in your entries. No content is sent externally.
4. Data retention
Entries persist on your device and in your iCloud until you delete them. Deleting an entry removes it from both. Deleting your account from within the App removes all your entries from your iCloud.
5. Your rights
- Access: You can view all your entries directly within the App.
- Export: You can export your entries as plain text (.txt) or spreadsheet (.csv) from within the App’s Settings.
- Deletion: You can delete individual entries at any time, or delete your entire account from the App’s Settings, which removes all associated entries from your iCloud.
- Under GDPR (EEA users) and similar laws elsewhere: you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because entries never leave your device or iCloud, you already have direct access; contact us if you need help exercising any of these rights.
Legal basis for processing (EEA users). Our lawful basis for processing the limited data described above is (i) performance of the contract to provide the App to you, and (ii) legitimate interests in maintaining your account across sessions.
Right to lodge a complaint. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (Ireland) or with the supervisory authority in your country of residence.
6. Children’s privacy
Onuri is not directed at children under 13. You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 years old if you reside in a country within the European Economic Area with a stricter minimum age under applicable data protection law) to use the App. We do not knowingly collect information from children below these ages.
7. International users
Onuri operates from Ireland. Because entries stay on your device and in your iCloud, they are governed by Apple’s regional storage arrangements (which typically keep data within your region for iCloud users).
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Effective Date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version of the App.
